One of the biggest things that I can happily check off my "Done!" list is our Young Men & Young Women Senior Roast Night. Our ward has a tradition of doing this for all the graduating Seniors and I was put in charge of planning it (which is a bit tricky considering I've never been to one).
When Jared graduated from college his grandparents gave him the "Oh the Places You'll Go" Dr. Seuss book (thank you Leus!) and I used that as the theme for the night. Each senior had a video made of them (lots of embarrassing bare bum, braces and bathtub pictures) and each was "roasted" by a family member as we chowed down on strawberry shortcake for dessert. In the end I think it was a great night for everyone. These youth are pretty amazing, I was impressed. I figured there would be 60 people at the most and ended up with quite a few more. Jared, my mom, and all the kids came by to drop off some supplies for me but ended up staying for the whole thing. Avery spend the entire time out in the garage with all her little friends trying to chase down some little kittens to pet. My mom and Jared were life savers helping me set up and clean up and it was so fun to have them there .
I worked on a few decorations to fit the theme-

These were placed all around the house and outside when you were coming in. They were kind of fun to do.

I bought 8 copies of the book for each senior and all the old and new leaders and the Bishopric all wrote a little note inside each one. Hopefully the seniors will hold onto them, maybe eve read them to their kids one day...or maybe I'll find them at the Salvation Army next week. :o)

Brittany, Jared had been telling me about this event and how much work you were doing for it. I couldn't even imagine all that! I agree with those younger girls: I'd look forward to that too! I love that book! Dr Seuss was almost up there with Walt Disney, I think (as far as imagination). Way to go!!! Love, Debbi
I found your blog through Pinterest. I'm doing a similar party for our graduating (LDS) youth and would love a copy of the poem you wrote/read at the beginning if you doing mind sharing.
